Ron graduated from Penn State University in 1963 with a degree in Floriculture and Ornamental Horticulture. His career in the industry began at Ball Seed in 1963 in the Grower Service Department. In time, he moved on to The Henry F. Michell Company in 1964 where he initally managed the Nursery Department and then moved on to sales. Ron joined Vaughan's Seed Company in 1976 and stayed with them through all their iterations and partnership with McHutchison. Ron's passion is horticulture and is currently servicing New York.
Ron likes to travel and goes to Aruba, six weeks out of every year and works from the beach. His hobbies include selling plants, following sports (go Penn State and Giants!), watching movies, remembering phone numbers, and listening to music from the 50s and 60s as well as country music too. His life's passion is to sell plants as long as he's able to.

Ken Sadd is a sales representative for Vaughan’s Horticulture in Ohio. He graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in horticulture. In the early ‘90s, Ken began his career in the horticulture industry at Vaughan’s Seed Company, and after exploring other opportunities, Ken returned to Vaughan’s in 2014.
Ken also has a personal interest in gardening and landscape design and enjoys helping others with their gardening questions. Ken has a passion for plants and the horticultural industry, and this contagious energy makes him an asset to our team and to his customers.
When he has “down time”, Ken enjoys giving time back to his local community by volunteering and participating on several committees. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, golfing, and fishing.

Cathy graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Plant Science, specializing in Environmental Horticulture. Throughout her career, she has sold fertilizers and pesticides, greenhouses and hard goods, heating and cooling systems, potting mixes, and best of all, young plant starts, with McGregor Plant Sales, Aris Horticulture, and Vaughan’s Horticulture, currently covering the state of California.
Cathy and her husband, Dave, like to travel, especially to Seattle to visit their daughter and son-in-law. Cathy likes to garden (currently putting together a nice cactus collection!) and sew, and help her husband with his construction projects.

Kim is a Key Account Sales Representative for Vaughan’s Horticulture in Florida, with a degree in Plant Science and Landscape Design from the University of Tennessee. Before her role at Vaughan’s, Kim was a successful landscape designer and direct sales manager for commercial landscapes with John Deere Landscapes. This experience remains with her today as she seeks out new premium plant genetics for long-term success.
Working at Vaughan’s Horticulture has been a perfect fit, with Kim bringing together her passion for finding solutions, working with innovative customers, being involved in production schedules and the continuation of her plant knowledge. She has been with the Vaughan’s team for nearly 13 years, assisting growers in developing profit-driven programs with high retail success and we couldn’t be happier to have her on our team.
In her “down time”, Kim enjoys training and competing in Ironman triathlons with her husband, coaching her son’s baseball team and spending time at the beach searching for shark teeth with her three small children and rescue dogs.

Galen J. Dokter is a Horticulturist/Senior Account Manager with Vaughan's Horticulture, covering the Rocky Mountain States of: Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, and New Mexico. His educational background consists of a degree in Business Management and a degree in Horticulture. A career Horticulturist for 40+yrs, Galen has owned businesses of both retail/wholesale production and knows through life experiences what customers needs are having lived it. He finds joy in new start ups and problem solution solving. Galen's strong points are business planning, production, and plant selection. His hobbies and goals are enjoying travel, golf, hiking, photography, artistic painting, and studying of history around the world. Galen looks forward to enjoying time with his wife of 43+ years, kids, and 6 grandkids.

Melissa started her horticulture career in High School at a local garden center after her father suggested she get a job! She continued her education earning a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Delaware. She spent almost 2 decades as the head grower for a local, family owned garden center producing spring annuals, Easter, fall and Christmas crops. She served 2 terms as President of Long Island Flower Growers’ Association and currently holds a position as a board member.
Melissa studied Taekwondo for 12 years achieving the rank of 2nd degree Black Belt. She is passionate about fitness competing in obstacle course races and riding long distance on her bicycle. She lives on Long Island with her husband where they share a love of cycling often taking rides or racing together. They met when he was working in a bike store. Melissa is the sales rep for Long Island and Northern NJ bringing all what is new and exciting to her customers.

Joe started in the hort industry in 1973; first as a humble greenhouse worker in Dallas, Texas and eventually to general manager of Aldershot of New Mexico during the 1980’s. Developing his career further, Joe managed other large wholesale operations in Texas and then began his sales career with Vaughan’s Seed Company in 1989.
These days, Joe is not only busy keeping a keen eye on industry developments and trends but he finds the time to connect with growers, meet their challenges and coach them with helpful suggestions and cultural advice, ultimately helping make them successful.

Brent Boardman

Brent Boardman is a Vaughan’s Horticulture representative serving key accounts in the West. Brent landed his first Horticulture job – in accounting nonetheless – roughly two decades ago, before earning a degree in Landscape Architecture from Washington State University (Go Cougs!). Since then, he has spent years honing his Hort industry knowledge in both purchasing and production management, planned packaging in North America for the world’s largest berry supplier, and devoted the past few years consultatively supporting greenhouse growers and the supply chain. Brent has extensive experience in worldwide sourcing and delivery of products ranging from tissue culture through to prefinished. He knows it all starts with the first conversation though, so customer service reins as priority.
When the workday slows a bit, Brent spends time on renovations and figuring out the next place to travel.

Lauren Hill

Lauren services customers in North and South Carolina and has an extensive horticulture background. She earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental horticulture from Clemson University. Most recently she spent five years as a Horticulture Agent with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension of NC State University, where she consulted for consumer and commercial clients including ornamental production. Prior to that, she was a horticulturist at two public gardens where she tended to all the latest and greatest plants. She has a strong work ethic, and enjoys solving problems and learning along the way! Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband Holmes traveling to the beach and the mountains biking, hiking, and playing with their dog George.

John Sutton

John began his career outside of the industry, as a lab technician in the field of medical technology in the military. In the mid 80’s he went back to school, thanks to the G.I. Bill, and earned a degree in ornamental horticulture. Subsequently, he worked for more than 20 years as a grower and production manager, growing annuals, perennials, and everything in between! John entered the sales force in the early 2000’s and began building experience at different broker houses, and now shares his talents at Vaughan’s Horticulture.
John enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and kayaking and is also an avid gardener who enjoys managing his very own trial gardens on three acres of land in the Lodi countryside. With this first-hand experience, John is well versed on new introductions and how they tolerate the high summer temperatures of California. And although he’s now on the west coast, John still holds Pittsburgh, PA close to his heart and loves “his” Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins, and even tries to make it to two games a year!

Rebecca Lusk
Rebecca Lusk is an East Coast Key Account Sales Representative for Vaughan’s; one of two distributors for Dümmen Orange, which is a leading international breeder focused on potted plants, bedding plants, perennials, tropical plants, cut flowers, and bulbs. Her responsibilities include strategic business planning and sales development with key accounts. She is the Founder & past President of Luxflora, a women-led organization working to create a lifestyle movement that uses flowers for expression in everyday life. Notable is her 21 years of employment with Dümmen Orange. Her passions include culinary arts, travel and the experiences related.

Since 2022, Jen Miner has been working with McHutchison and Vaughan’s as the Vendor Program Manager. To best utilize her expertise in vendor management and sales, Jen’s role at McHutchison and Vaughan’s was expanded, to Western Regional Sales Manager in addition to her continuing role as the vendor program manager.
Jen has been a part of the horticulture industry for over 37 years, and still wakes up every day excited to meet with her peers, customers, and other industry professionals. Jen comes to McHutchison and Vaughan’s with an intricate understanding of our industry and a proven ability to cultivate effective, long-lasting business relationships. She has a passion for this industry, and she is excited to be part of our team, where she aims to be an impactful mentor and sales manager.
